Alysa Liu (born August 8, 2005) is an American figure skater. She is the 2025 World champion, the 2022 World bronze medalist, a two-time US national champion (2019 & 2020), and the 2021 Lombardia Trophy champion. On the junior level, she is the 2020 World Junior bronze medalist, the 2019-20 JGP Final silver medalist, and the 2018 US junior champion. She is the first American woman to land a quadruple lutz in competition, and is currently the youngest American US senior champion in women's singles, at 13 years of age.
Personal Life[]
Liu was born on August 8, 2005 in Clovis, California. She is the oldest of five children (two boys, three girls). She was conceived through an anonymous egg donor and surrogate mother, and the identity of her biological mother remains unknown.
Liu's father, Arthur Liu, is an attorney originally from Sichuan Province, China. During the late 1980s, he was a Chinese democracy activist. Upon learning he was wanted for arrest, he fled his home country, arriving in Oakland at age 25.
