Sarah Elizabeth Hughes (born May 2, 1985) is an American retired competitive figure skater. She is the 2002 Winter Olympic champion, and the 2001 World bronze medalist.
Personal Life[]
Hughes was born in Great Neck, New York, a suburb of New York City, on May 2, 1985. She began skating at age 3 on her family's backyard ice rink.
Hughes' younger sister, Emily, is also a figure skater, and competed at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
